The German Empire was actually consisted of 39 independent states that were linked culturally. The biggest state, Prussia, was the other name for the empire as the Prussian Empire. In their empire, the church and state was made as two separate entities and its government was the foundation / originators of the U.S. government. As for the foreign relations of the time, the German Empire had many allies with other empires like the Italians or the Austrians and fought against the French Empire in the Franco-Prussian War.
